Summary/Abstract: By applying the achievements in logic and the general methodology, and relying on the expert literature in the field of the art of the war, the author has tried to formulate the basic criteria for the valid defining of the “hybrid war” syntagm. With the help of the analysis and comparison methods, those essential features that should make the content of the notion of “hybrid war” have been singled out in the paper. The author has critically perceived several foreign authors’ views of the notion of “hybrid war”, on the basis of which, while also simultaneously applying the categorial apparatus of logic, he has tried to make a clear distinction between the concept of “hybrid war” and the other, sometimes very similar, notions – guerilla warfare, compound war, asymmetrical war, low-intensity conflicts.
