Summary/Abstract: Transparency of the sources, amounts, and methods of spending financial resources of candidates or political parties in an election campaign is an important factor in public oversight of the election process. At the same time, it also reflects the actual degree of democracy of elections. The regulation of election campaign financing is justified in an effort to limit the disproportionate influence of wealthy individuals and special interest groups, the misuse of public funds, and the use of financial influence on the outcome of the election, because in this way it would deviate from the actual mood of the electorate and individual political parties would be put in a more favorable position. The electoral legislation of modern democratic states also precisely regulates the financial aspect of the election campaign, regardless of the level of the election in question, all with the aim of ensuring the transparency of this part of the election.
