Summary/Abstract: The controversies discussed here are often at the center of public interest even in countries with a rich tradition of democracy. In these countries, the media, non-governmental organizations and other factors have been repeatedly warning for a long time about the twofold harm of the “shady” financing of parties and other political actors: on the one hand, political actors should not use their (actual or potential) position in power to force companies and individuals with capital to give them donations; on the other hand, it is unacceptable for the rich and corporations to influence the government and control the political system in this way.
