Summary/Abstract: The best way to stimulate beneficial human behaviour is through an economic approach. It encourages innovation and implies that the “Polluter Pays” principle is applied in internal systems as well as at the global level. The biggest challenge of the official project of global climate policy is the goal of keeping the increase in the average temperature of the Earth at values lower than 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to the pre-industrial era. The estimated concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere should not be above 400 ppm (although this level was exceeded in 2015). It is considered important to lower this concentration to 350 ppm. Climate changes at the present moment in Serbia are more visible in relation to their average global effect. Facing our climate future may be leading us to new structural crises. The current energy crisis marks a large part of the global economy. Together with the still current covid-crisis and wrong monetary and fiscal measures, the climate policy could contribute to an even greater imbalance of supply and demand. The world today is not safe, both in terms of energy, and also in the economic, military-political and social terms. All risks have increased during the last three years. But the covid recession and the energy crisis have highlighted the contradictions between the exploitation of natural resources and sustainability. The world will not easily get out of the existing structural difficulties and their developmental consequences. The good news is that climate unknowns and risks today have an increasing influence on the formation of culture, especially the young and teenage generation (Greta Thunberg) as well as believers and religious authorities around the world (Pope Francis).
