Summary/Abstract: With multinational companies increasingly investing in the integration of artificial intelligence into global supply chains, the pharmaceutical industry is no exception. Artificial intelligence is being adopted throughout the supply chain, with the focus of drug and biotech manufacturers at the very beginning of the supply chain, more specifically at the R&D. The use of algorithms in this field is not new and dates to the beginning of our century, but today the pace of development of this type of technology, as well as the effectiveness of its use, are at a completely different level. The purpose of this report is to examine the extent of the integration of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical supply chains based on the experience of European manufacturers. Research methods include induction, deduction and case study approach. The results show that despite several challenges, the pharmaceutical sector in Europe has successfully integrated AI-based technologies into their supply chains.
