Summary/Abstract: The asset management industry plays a key role in the European economy by transferring capital from individuals’ savings to the real economy, strengthening financial market stability and economic growth across the European Union. With over €29 trillion in assets under management (AUM), Europe is an important global financial center. This paper aims to examine the development of the asset management market in the European Union and Bulgaria as part of it, examining the factors that contribute to both the development of the industry and the impact of investments in Mutual Funds on the real economy. Despite its relatively modest share, the Bulgarian asset management sector reflects the trends of upward growth and development compared to the developed economies in the European Union.
