Summary/Abstract: The development of logistics as a competitive weapon is a fact. Nowadays, we are witnessing many good examples of the successful development of logistics competencies in organizations and supply chains. In the implementation of these complex activities, an interdisciplinary approach is increasingly required in the conditions of high intra-company integration. The relationship of logistics with other functional areas is of extremely great importance for achieving better market results. This, on other hand, reveals potential for research aimed at clarifying areas for improving interfunctional interactions. The report aims to summarize the results of previous studies in the field of logistics and supply chains and to define potential areas for development in further research and in the practical management of logistics costs in the direction of increasing competitiveness and implementing innovations. The results of this text can be applied both in a practical aspect and in the direction of expanding scientific research in the field. An integral part of the report is the presentation of the established classification of logistics costs, as well as the concept of total logistics costs. The results of the study define a number of areas related to the pursuit of efficient use of resources, cost analysis, their management, etc.
