Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the topic of literature concerning the Deaf community and its significance for signed language interpreters. It presents an analysis of how literature can support interpreters in understanding Deaf culture and improving their professional practice. The article highlights the specific challenges faced by Deaf individuals within the Polish educational system, particularly the lack of adaptation of curricula to meet their needs. Literature is presented as a valuable source of knowledge about the Deaf community, offering insights into their experiences, emotions, and attitudes toward their deafness. Additionally, the article points out the stereotypes present in literature written by hearing authors and emphasises the necessity for interpreters to consciously challenge these representations.
