Summary/Abstract: During the second half of the 20th century in the science of literature, under the influence of structural linguistics, formalistic approaches to narrative texts flourished. One of the directions that arose under the influence of structuralism is narratology, which was established as a tendency that strives for immanent criticism of narrative texts, rejecting everything that is outside the text itself. Supporters of this tendency in literary science have developed a theoretical apparatus that can be applied to any type of narrative text, with the aim of its detailed formal analysis. The paper applies the elements of narratology to the war coverage of the daily Politika on the siege of Vukovar from August to November 1991.
