Summary/Abstract: With the start of the war in Ukraine, the Western Balkans region has taken on a new significance because, initially, fears arose that the Russian Federation could generate unrest in states not integrated into Euro-Atlantic structures that could affect the regional security architecture. The Bosnian state continues to exhibit multiple features of insecurity, generated by the identity of its constituent peoples, and the preservation of a non-integrated area in the European geographic space will continue to provide insecurity. Misunderstandings and differences between the political leaders at the helm of the state, inter-ethnic tensions, but especially secessionist tendencies generate insecurity in Bosnia and Herzegovina and affect the process of the state's Euro-Atlantic integration.
