Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the importance of quantity and quality of the opposing force. This approach starts from an analysis of the parties involved in the conflict. In this respect, it is necessary to quantify three parameters: offensive firepower, defensive firepower and staying power. These characteristics make the transition from a purely quantitative analysis of some objective parameters (the number of soldiers under arms, of units, ships, aircraft and different weapon systems) to the use of some qualitative parameters (the good state of operation, the relative retirement of the systems, their efficiency under certain conditions of use). We believe that these parameters should be supplemented with subjective parameters (the morale of the soldiers or the support of public opinion).
