Summary/Abstract: Public discourse nowadays repeatedly addresses the topic of security threats represented by deepfakes in the context of the AI ChatGPT applications rise. In this article we aim to outline what deepfake is and why it is such a worrying phenomenon at the moment. In a deductive approach, we try to systematize the information provided by specialized literature, following the argumentation of academic discourse, regarding the threats posed by the deepfake phenomenon and the effectiveness of combating slippages, focusing our attention on public communication.
