Summary/Abstract: Energy security has become a central theme in international relations and national defense, especially for countries like Romania, located in the geopolitically sensitive region of the Black Sea. Investing in renewable energy infrastructure is essential for ensuring both the security and sustainability of national energy grids. This paper explores how European funds have been used to finance key energy security initiatives in Romania, analyzing the impact of such investments on the country's energy resilience. By investigating the effectiveness of funding programs like the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Cohesion Fund (CF), and the Just Transition Fund (JTF), this study aims to highlight the successes, challenges, and future opportunities for enhancing energy security through European financial instruments.
