Summary/Abstract: After the end of the Second World War, Romania and a large part of Eastern Europe underwent a process of forced communization as a result of the presence of the Red Army and the mobilization of local communists. This process had a radical impact on geopolitics on the European continent. The anti-communist opposition in Romania, led by the Nationalist-Tărăniks, tried to put the brakes on this process by trying to attract the involvement of the Western Allies. This led to a plan to send some of the PNȚ leaders into exile, a plan that failed and turned into a set-up by the communist regime's intelligence organs. The opposition's plans were inspired solely by the national interest. The group of National-Peasent politicians was sentenced to very heavy penalties by the Bucharest Military Tribunal, sentence no. 1988 of November 11, 1947. The outbreak of Russian aggression against Ukraine in February 2022 triggered a geopolitical earthquake in Europe, a context in which the comparison with the period of the 1940s is very instructive, in the hope that this time the international community will opt for the most just solutions.
