Summary/Abstract: The relations between Marshal Antonescu and King Michael I are winding and difficult to reconstruct. "Completely different characters, temperaments and experiences, separated by a generation. After all, there was no real communication between them". (Giurescu, 1999, p. 207) Referring to Ion Antonescu, King Michael I was to declare: "As far as he was concerned, he was not against the monarchy. He was a legitimate military man who was concerned, I believe, about the future of his countr". (Desplaces, 1995, p. 79)
