Summary/Abstract: Based on relevant sources and literature, the paper analyses reviews and articles on the works of Soviet/Russian historians dealing with 19th and 20th century topics, published in journals of six important historical institutions in Belgrade between 1946 and 2000 (Jugoslovenski istorijski časopis/Yugoslav Historical Review, Istorijski glasnik/Historical Herald, Istorijski časopis/Historical Review, Vojnoistorijski glasnik/Military Historical Review, Tokovi istorije/Currents of History and Istorija 20. veka/ History of the 20th Century). The focus is on the work of the Commission of Historians of the USSR and SFRY from 1974 to 1991, that was supposed to facilitate direct contacts between historians of the two countries. The Commission partially succeeded in this, although in terms of formal cooperation the expectations of both parties were dashed.
