Summary/Abstract: The paper outlines a survey of the transformation of the historical research in Serbia under the influence of the development of information and communication technologies in the late 20th century and during the first decades of the 21st century. The application of digital technologies, infrastructures, systems, services, and tools has affecte the methodology of historical sciences in almost all segments. The research practice was changed when unified electronic catalogues of library funds became available on the web. Even greater changes were caused by the availability of digitized copies of historical sources, mostly printed material, created in an “analog“ form (newspapers, magazines, scientific periods, books, manuscripts, maps, etc.). The possibility that historians make digital records of historical sources themselves has made possible a dramatic acceleration of research, or shortening the time required for research in libraries and archives. Historians in Serbia are experiencing a kind of „digital revolution“ mostly alone or assembled into small, informal experience-sharing groups.
