Summary/Abstract: The report examines and analyses the development and accompanying trends of the Bulgarian banking sector in the period 2010-2023. The focus of the study is on key factors and processes related to the banking sector – regulatory requirements, consolidation and digitalization and financial indicators for the sector's activities. The main challenges in the period under review are also outlined. Based on documentary analysis and quantitative data on key financial indicators - capital adequacy, return on assets and return on equity, the report outlines the main trends in the Bulgarian banking sector as well as the current challenges facing Bulgarian banks.
