Summary/Abstract: This article addresses and analyzes, building on the Chinese Division's 2023 report submitted to the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names (UNGEGN), the existing correlations identified between national approaches to regulating geographical names and chinese place name geopolitics, in order to infer links between the Chinese Communist Party's actions to change place names and the strategic importance that these actions have in China's broader geopolitical agenda, as well as the potential effects it has on the autonomy of regions such as Tibet and Xinjiang, as well as other disputed areas. The objectives and principles of the CCP's policy of standardizing place names, the geopolitical strategy of place names used by the People's Republic of China, and its effects at the national and regional levels are analyzed, one by one, în order to confirm the main hypothesis.
