Summary/Abstract: Job insecurity impacts various areas of employment and work, such as the perceived employability, perceived job control, occupational stress, engagement, relationships and trust, and consequently work efficiency. The aim of this chapter is to present the phenomenon of job insecurity and to indicate its selected potential links with burnout, which may be of both direct and indirect nature. This chapter presents the key findings from empirical research on the consequences of job insecurity and focuses on those consequences that may be related to employee burnout, ultimately creating a map of connections leading from job insecurity through various work-related areas and phenomena to burnout. Additionally, the concept of reciprocity is considered, meaning that a given aspect can simultaneously beboth a cause and an effect. For instance, job insecurity can be both a cause and a consequence of burnout. The same applies to the remaining aspects included in the model.
