Summary/Abstract: The impact of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic varies across economies, industries and firms. One of the most visible effects of the pandemic which is widely reported and gains attention of scholars is supply chain disruptions. The pandemic impacted supply chains strongly, deeply and at an unprecedented scale as for now. In February 2024 “Fortune” reported that as many as 94% of the Fortune 1000 companies saw coronavirus supply chain disruptions. As the world is struggling through the second phase of the pandemic now, it is worth while investigating whether supply chains have passed the resilience test successfully during the outbreak of the pandemic. In the chapter the considerations are placed against the background of theoretical concepts of supply chain resilience and are supported by examples of supply chain disruptions and collapses we could observe. In addition, the purpose of the chapter is to assess the way, the pace and the direction of supply chain recoveries. The latter is likely to reveal several new business models, development strategies as well as potentially new research avenues all of which may have much to contribute businesses for gearing up for the post-pandemic world. All of this will show what we have learned so far and what needs to be done soon, and will help to answer the title question whether the resilience of contemporary supply chains has recently been properly tested and approved.
