Summary/Abstract:  Pre-reading involves identifying a pre-text to establish a network of connections withthe text under study. Its aim is to facilitate entry into the text, accessing its world. Reading withoutpre-reading is a less engaging process. Entry into the text is achieved by making connections withother texts or with students‟ life experiences. Through pre-reading, we challenge students to find a clearmotivation for reading the text. However, entering the text must be closely related to both the rationaland emotional aspects of the readers. As a didactic sequence, pre-reading is the coordinating elementthat opens the scenario dedicated to the reception of literary text. Pre-reading is a stage through whichthe teacher can open pathways to understanding the text that will be studied in the classroom
