Summary/Abstract: The publication justifies the necessity of working in the initial stage of education to form media literacy as part of the digital competence of adolescents. In some countries (Sweden, Ireland and the United Kingdom for example), media literacy is already part of the school curriculum. The outlined opportunities for pedagogical practice in elementary school are oriented towards the formation of media literacy skills, understanding and critical assessment of different aspects of the media and their content and communication in different contexts.
