Summary/Abstract: This paper identifies the main challenges to fiscal consolidation in Bulgaria. In this regard, the key components and prerequisites for achieving fiscal consolidation, discussions on the benefits of fiscal consolidation and types of fiscal policies are examined. An analysis of the periods of fiscal expansion and consolidation in Bulgaria was made.
