Summary/Abstract: The health systems of the EU Member States differ in their structure, functioning and healthcare costs. This paper benchmarks the state of Member States on key health indicators in 2020, analyzing the level of a health cohesion in the EU, as well as empirically examines the relationship between healthcare expenditure and the health status of a proportion of the elderly population in the EU. The research is linked to the project to create a health union of the EU.
