Summary/Abstract: The object of study are specific realizations of otherness: heathens, heretics, people with disabilities, borderline women. Their exclusion and inclusion to their own is carried out primarily through verbal practices in medieval writings and through rituals in traditional culture. The surveys conducted among present-day Bulgarians enrich our understanding of the concept of others.
