Summary/Abstract: More than two years after the start of the pandemic and finally in 2022, air traffic is seen returning closer to 2019 levels. in this connectivity of the airport industry. Passenger traffic in Europe has jumped by 247% in the first half of 2022. compared to the same period the previous year – meaning airports handled an additional 660 million passengers. The analysis shows that the recovery of air connectivity in Europe is anything but uniform or linear. However, dealing with the sudden increase and concentration of passenger traffic during peak times is a challenge for Europe‘s airports and their operating partners – especially for ground operators – due to acute staff shortages.
