Summary/Abstract: The so-called „gig economy“, where self-employed workers are paid to perform individual tasks, is changing the concept of work. The present study is an attempt to analyse the gig economy phenomenon and explain its impact on the labor market after the COVID-19 pandemic. What is special about the development of the gig economy is related to digital platforms, which play an important role in increasing productivity and the level of employment as a result of increasing labor force participation, and facilitate access to lower-paid workers, leading to more specialisation and standardisation of labor.
