Summary/Abstract: Despite the growing interest in building innovative industries based on marine resources, sustainable energy, sustainable tourism, the circular economy and digitalisation, there is still a lack of sufficient initiatives and research on this topic. At the same time, the EU 2020 Action Plan for the Circular Economy in Coastal and Island Regions promotes the processes of the circular economy. This report examines the possibilities for applying the concept of circular economy in the context of the development of tourism in the Black Sea region of Bulgaria. The first part of the paper presents the principles of the circular economy in tourism. The second part identifies good practices for a systematic approach and paradigm shift in coastal regions. The third part traces initiatives and possible solutions in the region of Burgas.
