Introduction of a tool for assessing the transition to a circular economy in Bulgaria’s tourism through artificial intelligence

Summary/Abstract: The instruments of the circular economy in the contemporary economic environment create favorable conditions for the transition toward affordable services, sustainable business growth, and reduced pollution by supporting the development of resilient circular value chains. The transition to a circular economy, on the other hand, can be further enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which can expand the scope of stakeholders involved in the economic system. This study examines the necessity and potential for creating a multilingual platform that promotes the circular economic model within the tourism sector. The article conducts a simulated test of the platform concept through AI-assisted model consultation. The tool’s efficiency is further developed by analysing the platform’s functions and business model. Employing artificial intelligence makes it possible to identify a “golden niche” for a circular approach in tourism, optimizing services and strengthening sustainable tourism practices. Artificial intelligence is a golden opportunity for circular transition in tourism can be established. The development of a tourism platform in the Balkans is a great opportunity to analyze the work of artificial intelligence. The present work may support the identification of areas within the Bulgarian tourism sector where the principles of the circular economy can be applied with particular efficiency and economic benefit.
