Summary/Abstract: It has long been assumed, that children with Down syndrome are at a reduced risk of psychopathology. However the clinical and research experience suggests, that incidence of autism symptomatology may be elevated in Down syndrome. Since both disorders share similar symptoms, differential diagnostics can be very difficult. In present paper, two case studies of boys with Down syndrome are presented. Both children were diagnosed using Autism Diagnostics Observation Schedule-2 and Autism Diagnostic Interview-revised. In the conclusion, overlapping of autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome symptomatology is discussed.
