Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the potential therapeutic implications of parasocial interaction (PSI) for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). PSI, a one-sided relationship with media characters, may offer a safe space to develop social-cognitive functions without real-world pressures. The study used a multi-method approach with four questionnaires (AQ, EQ, RMET, and PSI Questionnaire) on 43 participants (21 with ASD, 22 neurotypical). Results suggested a potential positive association between PSI and improved theory of mind and empathy in individuals with ASD, although limitations like sample size and gender differences warrant further research. The study highlights the potential of PSI as a useful tool in ASD treatment, fostering cognitive-affective development.
