Summary/Abstract: This article deals with data that indicate how well European tourism performs. It aims to identify the basic factors determining the position of the Czech Republic in international tourism. The text can also be understood as a ground for further discussion on other possibilities of tourism development in the Czech Republic as well as its limits. In a way it is an analysis of external environment of Czech tourism.
