Summary/Abstract: The monograph, inspired by the reform of contract law in France, is a collection of texts written by outstanding academics from France, Germany, Poland and Switzerland. The first part of the book sets the stage by presenting the most important changes introduced into the French Civil Code. Those modifications become the starting point for subsequent deliberations regarding their influence on the development of both German and Polish contract law. The second part of the publication contains an analysis of the French concept of ‘imprévision’, followed by a presentation of the aforementioned doctrine in the German and Swiss law as well as of the corresponding concept of clausula rebus sic stantibus in Polish law. The third part of the book contains considerations on the application of contract theory in other areas of law, which is of vital importance in legal practice.
