Summary/Abstract: The inspiration for taking up the subject was the experience of working in psychological counseling for students with disabilities. The functioning of adolescents with serious hearing impairment in interpersonal relationships deserves the interest of psychologists and educators. Difficulties in mutual understanding are experienced by all people, also those with perfect auditory perception; but the hard of hearing face many more challenges which are also more severe and often difficult to overcome. The value of the research presented in the monograph results from the fact that they provide credible arguments justifying the need for organized support for hearing-impaired students as well as – indirectly – the need for psychological care extended to families bringing up children with hearing impairments and for people tackling the auditory faculty problems, especially during adolescence.
