Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to describe the difficulties of functioning in close emotional relationships experienced by divorced adult children. In addition, the purpose of this article was to try to understand this experience as it is experienced by those whose parents have divorced. The analysis of the interviews indicated that the narrators were experiencing difficulties in coping with parental divorce, which was primarily reflected in building close emotional relationships with the opposite sex. These problems have to a large extent been related to the emotional sphere, and they involve lack of trust, fear for the future and sustainability of relationships, the inability to express and show feelings, low self-esteem, and the deprivation of internal security needs.
