Summary/Abstract: The book is a didactic compendium for students preparing for the role of a teacher of Polish. The authors draw on the latest research in various disciplines: linguistics, literature, didactics of the Polish language, pedagogy, psychology, and also associate Polish didactics with general didactics. The publication contains guidelines on the use of general didactic methods in Polish language teaching and the need to use the digital learning environment. The rationale behind any Polish language didactics handbook is to organize and link the goals and methods of cultural and literary as well as cultural and linguistic education, explaining the purposefulness and meaning of the teacher's activities, but also directing the teacher’s methodological ratiocination. The book has therefore been built on solid foundations in accordance with the logic of the argumentation, covering the full spectrum of the subject matter indicated by the title, i.e. student and teacher topics, methods and principles as well as forms of teaching, textbooks, core curriculum, organization of lessons and homework, teaching aids, and finally evaluation of education results. […] The authors of The Polish Language General Didactics are practitioners, so they have an understanding of both the psychophysical capabilities of students and the deficiencies in the students’ and teachers’ didactic perception. They accurately explain the problems that are still insufficiently understood by teacher candidates – for instance, when they elucidate the role of the preamble to the curriculum and emphasize that teachers have the right to introduce innovations to the accepted course [...] or even develop an original program [...]. The examples have been carefully selected to inspire the updating of literary classics and thinking about language in terms of the contemporary cultural linguistics. From the Introduction by prof. dr hab. Anna Ślusarz
