Summary/Abstract: Speech-language pathologists and other specialists note that increasing numbers of children in kindergartens and schools are in need of speech therapy support, especially in the area of speech sound disorders. The literature most often describes ways of diagnosing and treating such speech disorders, and to a lesser extent seeks to recognize its possible consequences in various levels of the child's life. The monograph addresses issues concerning the significance of persistent speech sound disorders for the broader educational performance of early-age primary school students. This includes school achievements in reading, writing and mathematical skills, and also peer relations."
