Summary/Abstract: A book devoted to socialist realism in Polish architecture with a critical edition in the form of an annex of interviews conducted in 1990 by Tadeusz Barucki, an architect and an outstanding historian and popularizer of contemporary architecture. They document an extremely important fragment of the history of post-war Poland, i.e. the times of socialist realism (1949–1956). His interlocutors were people responsible for creating the programmatic foundations and implementing this trend in architecture: S. Tworkowski, Z. Malicki, A. Kotarbiński, J. Bogusz, A. Wolski, R. Piotrowski, E. Goldzamt, Z. Skibniewski. In addition to them, the authors of works considered to be leading examples of socialist realism at the time also speak out: the Party House in Warsaw (W. Kłyszewski, J. Wierzbicki, E. Mokrzyński), Nowe Tychy (K. Wejchert, H. Adamczewska-Wejchert), Nowa Huta (S. Juchnowicz, J. Ingarden), the Trade Union building in Katowice (H. Buszko), Marszałkowska Residential District in Warsaw (S. Jankowski) and those who were at odds with socialist realism (J. Nowicki, R. Ihnatowicz).
