Summary/Abstract: The presented collective monograph addresses the issue of exporting contemporary Czech popular music. The aim of the individual chapters is to examine the obstacles, challenges, and opportunities related to the export of Czech music abroad — in the areas of live performance, digital distribution, and radio broadcasting. We focus particularly on the availability of data on Czech music exports collected by collective management organizations and private agencies aggregating data on music content listenership in broadcasts; the impact of EU cultural policy on the licensing and availability of repertoire from a small national market within streaming service offerings; the legal structure and practical functioning of music export offices; examples of Czech artists striving for international success; the quality of Czech music production and recordings in terms of the aesthetic, stylistic, and technical standards common in the international (particularly Western) scene; and, last but not least, the influence of streaming platforms on the listenership and visibility of Czech repertoire abroad.
