Summary/Abstract: Technological progress, globalization and flexibility of the labor market, as essential changes, create the need for new occupations and for the modification of traditional professions. However, no agreement has been reached on whether the modern era is characterized by comprehensive professionalization of occupations (The Professionalization of Everyone?) or, on the other hand, deprofessionalization of existing professions (The Deprofessionalization of Everyone?). It is more likely that both processes are equally relevant and represented. Proponents of the idea of universal professionalization point to its growing importance, although in the process only a small number of occupations will reach the level of established professions. In contrast, witnesses of deprofessionalization focus on declining standards and changes in the characteristics of (first of all, traditional) professions. Whichever of the mentioned processes the researcher chooses, it is necessary to take into account these essential changes that shape the modern sphere of work.
