Summary/Abstract: The book is divided into General and Special parts, the first part of which contains chapters devoted to the social position of transgender persons and changes in their legal status. Social position includes the findings of anthropological and historical studies, e.g. the ancient myth of Cainida, transgenderism in the nineteenth century, a review of the still existing traditional forms of transgenderism in the twenty-first century, but also examples from domestic literature, while the most attention is paid to the characteristics of the social position of transgender people in anti-trans violence in the environment of hegemonic and toxic masculinity. The change in the legal status of transgender people includes numerous and very dynamic global changes that are happening on all continents. Their common direction of movement goes from recognizing the change in the legal status of transgender people who have gone through the hormonal operative process of transition to enabling that change only in accordance with lifestyle and personal sense of identity while abandoning the medical aspects of transition in the form of surgery and diagnosis. The Special Part presents the position of transgender people in two rigid gender binary systems of today, in sports competitions that are traditionally gender-separated and in prison systems of gender-separated punishment. The gender binary regime of Olympic sports is gradually softening starting with the Stockholm Consensus and Declaration in 2003 and 2004, which under certain conditions allowed transgender athletes who had surgery to compete, until the decision of the International Olympic Committee in 2011 allowed, subject to a certain hormonal status, the participation of transgender people in accordance with their identity, without surgery. These changes rely on the inclusiveness and non-discrimination of sports and are motivated by respect for the human rights of transgender athletes. The author expresses her concern regarding the future of women's sports and therefore sports in general, which with the penetration of trans women may go in the direction of increasing suppression of women from sports.
