Summary/Abstract: The research revealed the situation in the field behind officially proclaimed equality and fair play (that professional achievements are due only to personal capabilities, working habits etc). the data evidenced that being a woman makes nominations of women legal professionals and personal advancements more difficult. Professional discrimination of women in elite legal profession are not always visible enough both for society and women themselves. Although almost half of women in Serbian judiciary are women, practices and policies, ideas and beliefs of professional gender-based discrimination are many and different. The research confirms the pre-envisaged necessity to challenge cultural ideology that equates masculinity and ability of exerting power over others. it also provided relevant data to support the claims for affirmative action. The appointment of female judges in a greater number is not augmented only to ensure gender balance in numerical perceptive but also to enable women contributing uniqueably and valuably to legal professions. Making all segments of legal profession fairly, reflectively and inclusively composed, it will become more representative of the society as a whole, and that would be the best improvement for the legal profession in general.
