Summary/Abstract: In the introductory part of the study, the author announces that the paper will present theoretical debates on the relationship between democracy and plural societies, that is, on the possibilities of democracy in plural societies. The presentation of those debates is important for the consideration of strategies in post-communist societies on the relationship between the nation and the state. The author specifies all this on the example of Serbia. He wonders how society, state and autonomy will be positioned in post-transition democratic circumstances and how to fit all of this into constitutional and legal solutions that would result in a functional type of political institutions that correspond to a plural society.
