Summary/Abstract: Group 484, within the project "Western Balkans towards the White Schengen List", wanted to investigate whether the accession of Serbia to the European Union represents an immigration threat to the member states of the European Union. To that end, we conducted a survey of migration potential on a representative sample in Serbia in order to gain insight into the scope, structure, and determinants of migration potential. The expansion of the European Union is often accompanied by the fear of the member countries of the arrival of waves of immigrants from the new member countries. Therefore, numerous studies have been carried out since the nineties, in an effort to predict the number of immigrants from potential member countries. In research, the term "migration potential" is used, although it is actually about the emigration potential of potential member countries. Božić and Burić (2004) believe that a more "neutral" term should be used - "migrations" in order to avoid the politicization of the terms "emigration" and "immigration", since the interviewers are mostly from immigration countries, and the respondents are from emigration countries.
