Summary/Abstract: The contemporary complex TV dramas are in most cases the outstanding result of the joint work of a creative team. They always have a showrunner – usually the screenwriter who gave the idea for the series/serials and wrote their pilot episode. But behind the curtains, a great team of writers sets together the main dramatic parameters, as well as the main plot lines and main characters’ development in order to achieve the highest quality and meaning of the show. Precisely because of these complex relationships, it is very difficult, practically even impossible, to determine who is actually the “author” of the completed complex drama. Contrary to the clearer “authorship” in a feature film. Thus, this paper analyses how the multidimensional characters and television heroes and antiheroes are depicted in the American contemporary complex TV drama and who gets the writ-ing credits for their creative invention.
