Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the role of perceived threats from immigration in the area of social and cultural security on the preferences of types of social solidarity. It was assumed that two ideal types of social solidarity can be distinguished. The first will be primary solidarity, dominated by mechanisms exclusive to groups different from the dominant group. The second will be civic solidarity, dominated by inclusive mechanisms towards groups different from the dominant group. The article assumes that the preferences of primary solidarity will increase in the context of the perceived threat in the area of social security and cultural security. Statistical analysis based on European Social Survey data confirmed this assumption. The perception of a threat in the area of social security will increase the chances of a social preference of primary solidarity in relation to immigrants, regardless of their origin. ethnic
