Summary/Abstract: The article presents the opinions and views of the outstanding British politician and thinker, Edmund Burke (1730–1797), on the situation of the Commonwealth. Burke devoted little attention to Polish affairs, but using its example, he formulated some theses on the internal and external reasons for the collapse of states. These views he developed in the last years of his activity, focusing on the French revolution.
