Summary/Abstract: This text aims to be an exercise for recovering a case among the thousands, tens of thousand or maybe hundreds of thousand of untold stories. I do this exercise while I also subscribe to a trend suggested by the politologist Stelian Tănase when he stressed that we cannot talk about totalitarianism with no reference to its criminal side. I shall attempt to unravel this story in parallel with an exercise for understanding the concentrationary phenomenon, specifically the theme of the concentration camp as it was presented in Varlam Șalamov's book, Povestiri din Kolîma - Stories from Kolîma. Otherwise, not by chance, I took over a part of the Russian writer's title in order to focus on "A Donbas Story" whose main character is Maria Așembrener, deported in the Krasnadom concentration camp between January 1945 and November 1948.
