Summary/Abstract: This article aims to present the complexity of handwriting examination – on one side is the complexity of the human traces examined, and on the other hand the complexity of the actual analysis process carried out by the examiner. If we consider the first approach, we think of the multitude of conceptual, decision and motor factors involved in filing the ideas we want to pass on scriptural support. At the same time, we have in mind that this process is realized almost instantly, the time elapsed from the creation of the idea (the concept), its transfer to the hand through the nervous (decision), bone and muscular (motor factors) system, its materialization through graphic signs (writing), is in the order of milliseconds. Also, specific to this activity is the fact that this formed skill is adaptable. The writer adapts his writing to the various factors that influence it to convey the desired idea and achieve the ultimate goal – the communication. The complexity of the handwriting examination is based on the fact that the writer's identification is the result of visual comparisons techniques, and the explanation of the processes taking place in this regard, in the examiner's brain, is difficult to achieve. The evaluation of the results is difficult due to the interpretation of the value conferred to the elements revealed in the process of comparative examination - are they sufficient enough to support one of the conclusions despite the other? And with what degree of certainty?
